Parents can join their children in these fun, educational activities or enjoy some well-earned relaxation.

With thrilling game drives and enriching experiences, Finch Hattons creates unforgettable family memories in the heart of Tsavo National Park.

Young Explorer's Club

At Finch Hattons, we believe every child is a natural adventurer - and no two are the same. That’s why we don’t offer a fixed kids’ programme. Instead, we create bespoke experiences for our Young Explorers (children aged six and over), tailored to their unique ages, interests, and curiosity.

From guided bush walks and wildlife-themed treasure hunts to hands-on Bush Survival Classes, our Young Explorers Club is designed to spark wonder and a deep love for the African wilderness. These immersive activities are as educational as they are exciting, teaching kids the secrets of the savannah while creating memories that last a lifetime.

Parents are welcome to join the adventure, or take a little time for themselves, knowing their children are in safe hands and soaking up the magic of Tsavo.

Keeping Busy

At Finch Hattons, every day is a new adventure for kids, so much so, they may never want to leave! Our Young Explorers can dive into the wonders of Tsavo National Park with engaging bush walks, mini safaris around camp, and interactive wildlife-spotting adventures. From colourful lizards and dazzling birds to fascinating insects, nature becomes their playground.

Led by our resident Conservation Manager and special guest experts, children can enjoy storytelling sessions and captivating talks that bring to life Tsavo’s rich history, vibrant cultures, and the deep connection between local communities and the wild.

As night falls, the magic continues with outdoor movie nights featuring classics like The Lion King and Madagascar. The next day, they’ll have the chance to spot their favourite animal stars - this time in real life, out on the savannah.

Out in The Wild

At Finch Hattons, safari adventures are for the whole family, and that includes our Young Explorers. Children aged six and over are welcome to join their parents on thrilling game drives, turning each wildlife encounter into a shared, unforgettable moment.

To keep the magic alive and ensure a safe experience for all, little ones are gently encouraged to stay quiet while spotting animals in the wild. If you’re traveling with very young children, one parent can relax back at camp while the rest of the family sets off into the bush for the day’s adventure.

With Tsavo’s roads kicking up a little dust, we recommend bringing sunglasses to keep small eyes comfortable and protected. It’s all part of the fun in the wild!

Sweet Dreams

Finch Hattons is one of the rare Kenya safari camps to offer spacious two-bedroom tents connected by a cosy lounge - ideal for families seeking luxury and togetherness on their adventure. Our expansive Family Suites, spanning over 200 sqm, provide unparalleled comfort and are perfectly located near the pool and public areas for easy access and convenience.

To ensure safety and comfort, kids under 12 share a tent with their parents, while 12 to 15-year-olds can have their own tent but are encouraged to bunk with family. Experience the ultimate family safari in Tsavo West with stylish accommodations designed for memorable moments and seamless relaxation.

Little Bites

We know little appetites can be a big deal, so we’ve created delicious, kid-friendly meals and snacks made just for them. Whether it’s a familiar favourite or something new to try, our chefs happily tailor every dish to suit your child’s tastes and dietary needs.

From fun bites between adventures to wholesome meals after a day in the wild, we make sure every Young Explorer is well-fed and smiling.

Safety First

For your little ones’ safety, we kindly ask that children stay close to an adult at all times around our unfenced camp. Even the smallest critters can be lively, so keeping kids within arm’s reach helps ensure they stay safe and happy. Children under 12 will also need adult supervision at the pool, as there is no lifeguard on duty. While we don’t offer babysitting, our friendly camp guides are always happy to keep a gentle watch over tents with kids at night.

During the warmer daytime hours, please take advantage of our complimentary sunscreen to keep your children protected. To help prevent mosquito bites, simply close the tent doors in the evening and use the mosquito spray provided in each tent, ensuring a comfortable and restful night for everyone.
