Mont Rochelle - Wine - Sales & Marketing Manager

Overview

Mont Rochelle is a stunning 26-bedroom hotel and vineyard near Cape Town in the town of Franschhoek, South Africa. The property hosts two restaurants namely Miko and The Country Kitchen, a spa and a working winery. 

Responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and sales strategies aligned with Virgin Group objectives, while driving revenue growth, brand presence, and customer experience. The role oversees marketing activities, sales performance, client relationships, wine club development, and logistics, ensuring efficient operations, strong market positioning, and delivery against budget and targets.

Responsabilities

General

  • Develop a marketing and sales plan in line with the Virgin Group’s goals and objectives
  • Monitor income, expenditure, client base, marketing actions and sales in line with budget
  • Provide feedback to the group management against approved goals

Marketing

  • In conjunction with Virgin Group, develop and execute the marketing strategy
  • Liaison with Cellar Master in participation of local and international promotional activities and competitions
  • Coordinate and manage wine shows, festivals and all relevant wine trading platforms, including hosting of site inspections, wine evenings, and other related actions
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns, monitor, and track performance and implement corrective actions to ensure ROI
  • Working in conjunction with the Food and Beverage Team, guide the tasting room operations.
  • Provide training on tastings
  • Guide tasting room in terms of promotions, events and general ‘look and feel’ in line with the winery brand
  • Handling of design of all packaging and promotional material
  • Manage local providers (e.g. designers, promotional material)
  • Assist Hotel to ensure aligned customer experience and coordinate resources when needed
  • In conjunction with Group, develop sales strategy and targets.
  • Identify and establish sales territories, quotas and targets and align distribution accordingly
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, negotiating the terms and conditions of sales contracts
  • Arrange and facilitate sales meetings, presentations of products and training sessions with both external sales agents, Mont Rochelle team members and Virgin Group clients
  • Create clear expectations for external sales and distribution agents, monitor progress and manage performance accordingly
  • Assist sales agents with negotiation and listings; and sign off trading terms
  • Manage and execute online sales, including oversight over logistical arrangements
  • Generate monthly sales reports indicating sales volumes, potential clients, and forecasts
  • Forecast sales and stock levels in line with production
  • Develop and manage Wine Club, including all communications and marketing actions
  • Coordinate with other business units in the group to offer promotions, events, and special offers

Logistics

  • Optimise logistics of distribution in a streamlined and cost-effective manner
  • Oversee and make all logistics arrangements between warehouses and farms up until shipping
  • Complete all relevant documentation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant Sales and Marketing qualification with 5 – 8 years’ experience OR 8 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role in the wine industry
  • WSET or Cape Wine Academy qualification advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license and passenger driving permit (advantageous)
  • Comprehensive understanding of wine industry
  • Knowledge of entire value chain especially that of root to market
