The Young Explorers Club
Finch Hattons is the perfect spot for families, providing exciting activities and facilities to suit every generation!
Young Explorers (that’s the kids!) aged six years or older are welcome at Finch Hattons and can join in the fun on game drives with their parents. When not on game drives, we ask parents to keep an eye on their young explorers at all times. We’re also happy to arrange special menus for the younger ones on request.

Sweet Dreams
We’re one of the few camps in Kenya offering two-bedroom tents connected by a cosy lounge – perfect for families! Our spacious Family Suites, over 200 sqm, provide luxurious comfort and are conveniently close to the public areas and the pool.
Kids under 12 must share a tent with their parents, and while 12-15-year-olds can have their own tent, we recommend they bunk with their parents for added safety.

Young Explorer's Club
Because we know each ‘Young Explorer’ (as we call them) is different, we do not operate a set kids programme. Instead, we offer a range of activities that we tailor to each child or group depending on their ages and interests. Parents may choose to join their kids in these activities or take time for themselves.
All explorers over size are very welcome. Our club is specially designed to educate kids about the ways of the African bush and to instil a love of the wilderness in them that will last a lifetime. They will head off on guided walks as well as complete treasure hunts on Bush Survival Classes. It’s an unforgettable, skill-packed adventure in the wild!

Out in The Wild
Kids can join their parents on exciting game drives for a true family adventure! Kids should stay quiet to keep things safe and thrilling so they don’t spook the animals. One parent needs to hang back at camp with the little ones when not on the move. The roads can be very dusty, so please bring sunglasses to protect their eyes.

Little Bites
We know feeding kids can be tricky, so we’ve whipped up special food and drinks just for them! From tasty snacks to light meals, everything is prepared to match your child’s tastes and dietary needs.

Safety First
Kids must stick with an adult at all times around our unfenced camp. Even the small critters can get feisty, so keep your little ones within arm’s reach. Those under 12 will also need an adult buddy at the pool, as there will be no lifeguard on duty. While we don’t offer babysitting, our friendly camp guides will keep a close eye on tents with kids at night.
Things can heat up in the daytime, so please make use of our complimentary sun cream to protect your kids. You can keep them from being bitten by pesky mosquitoes by shutting the tent doors in the evening and using the mosquito spray in each tent.

Keeping Busy
There's so much for the Kids to do, they may never want to leave...
Kids can join our resident Conservation Manager and special guest experts for an exciting talk on Tsavo’s history. They’ll hear stories about local communities - their origins and vibrant culture - and learn how they live in harmony with their environment and its wildlife.
Little ones can see what they can spy around the camp. We can arrange a short excursion to spot lizards, insects, and birds.
In the evenings, they can settle in to watch The Lion King or Madagascar on DVD, and see if they can spot some of the characters’ friends from the game vehicles during the day.
